COVID-19 Updates and Resources

LeadingAge Maryland is working to continually review and share timely information related to COVID-19. We are in daily contact with the Maryland Department of Health and other state-level stakeholders, and will continue to post and email emergent updates and information.

Our Sense of Purpose has Never Been Stronger - COVID-19 is not going to stop us
We are working to continually tell the story of the incredible work members are doing each and every day. Together with our colleagues at LifeSpan and HFAM, and with the many sponsors who signed on to support this campaign, we have taken out a full page ad in the Baltimore Sun and Capital Gazette on Sunday, May 17 and Sunday, May 24. We invite you to share this widely - download the image here!

State Action Alert: Mitigating Social Isolation and Addressing the Need for a More Financially Sustainable Testing Strategy

LeadingAge Maryland has advocated on behalf of our members continually over the previous months. We continue to urge the State to prioritize older Marylanders, and these messages have been carried by the media, discussed in hearings, and discussed in continuing conversation with MDH and the administration.

Many of you have asked how residents, family members, staff, and others can best advocate on behalf of aging services providers during this time. LeadingAge Maryland and LifeSpan have partnered on this ACTION ALERT to provide you with practical steps and talking points. We encourage all members, including residents and family members, to reach out to their legislators on these two issues.

Details on how to make your voice heard are in the ACTION ALERT. Please feel free to contact Allison with any questions.

Reminder: Phase II General Distribution Funds Applications Deadline Extended until Sunday, September 13

The deadline has been extended to Sunday, September 13 to apply for Phase II General Distribution funds.  This includes Medicare providers who did not get a payment yet because of a change of ownership, or those who have not received 2% to date. Please note, the SNF targeted distributions do not count towards this 2%. HHS has now said that private pay AL providers and private pay nursing homes can also apply through this same process.

PPE Requesting Process

Have DME laying around? DOA launches DME recycling initiative.

DOA is picking up gently used condition DME so you may easily and conveniently discard your operating workplace of the equipment. You will be supporting older adults, children and the disabled in the community who are in need. You will help in recycling and keeping this equipment out of landfills. All donations are tax-deductible.

We would like to schedule a pickup from your community in the next few weeks.

Can you help us? Please call 240-230-8000 or email DME.MDOA@maryland.gov. In the future, you may be able to donate equipment at your local recycling center.
